I am new to teaching Auslan this year and finding your resources very helpful, but also wondering which areas of Australia are associated with the Northern and Southern Dialect? I am in Perth and aware there may be differences in signing dependent on your location... I am just not quite sure what I should be following. Your feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Hi Monique, thanks for reaching out. In Auslan, there appear to be two main dialects: the southern dialect used in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania, and the northern dialect used in New South Wales and Queensland. I hope this information is helpful.
Thank you for these great resources! I would be extremely grateful if you could also kindly make flashcards for mother and grandmother which includes the alternative southern sign for mother? (Namely tapping the side of the head with the palm of a flat hand 2 x- see Auslan signbank video # 2 for 'mother'). This is the way that I have been taught mother, and the way I have been teaching my students. I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks :)

Also with the flash card for Talk, the comment says to;" tap the blade of the top hand onto the blade of bottom hand three times", but on the accompanying picture it shows the number 2

Just letting you know that the top tip comment for Grandmother fits the Northern dialect Grand mother signage, but not the Southern Dialect signage. It is different and might confuse first time users.
