Why Teach Fact and Opinion?

Learning how to tell facts from opinions is a critical skill that helps students understand what they’re reading in a deeper, more critical way. They are tasked with figuring out if something is based on hard evidence or if it’s just someone’s viewpoint. This year, we’re excited to help you teach your students the difference between fact and opinion with brand-new digital learning activities!

Fact or Opinion? Digital Learning Notebook

This digital resource is designed to serve as an independent practice activity for students to complete when demonstrating their ability to read, write, and sort statements based on whether they are facts or opinions. It features six interactive slides in which students will click, drag, drop, and type responses to demonstrate their understanding. Some activities included are:

• Matching Facts and Opinions
• Writing Fact and Opinion Statements

This resource must remain in EDIT mode in order to interact with the textboxes and drag/drop features.
