Looking for a 2nd Grade Fractions Worksheet?

Once students enter 2nd grade, they may be working to understand equal parts and how they relate to halves, quarters and eighths. We have a worksheet ready for you to use in your classroom that involves understanding parts of a whole and simple fractions.

With this worksheet, students will use different colors to represent fractions while creating their own fruit pie. Students will make their own fruit pie by adding:

• Yellow custard to the whole pie
• Blue blueberries to ½ of the pie
• Green apple to ¼ of the pie
• Red cherries to ⅛ of the pie
• Orange peach to ⅛ of the pie

One version shows a pie that is split into eight equal parts, whereas the other version is split into one-half, one-quarter and two-eighths.

Differentiate This Fractions Worksheet

• Extending Students – For students who need an additional challenge, encourage them to create their own fruit pie recipe, then swap these with a partner.
•  Supporting Students – For students who need support, use hands-on fraction circles to help them see the different pieces that are needed to create a whole.

You can also differentiate this activity by providing students with the different versions based on their confidence with fractions.
