Lesson Ideas for These Expository Writing Worksheets

This set of expository writing examples can be used in various ways in your classroom. Here are some suggestions from our teacher team:

• Whole-Class Activity – Display one of the texts on your interactive whiteboard. Read through the text together as a class, then invite various students to come up and highlight the targeted language features using different colors. 
• Collaborative Group Activity –Divide the class into groups and assign each group one of the report examples. Have the students collaborate to complete the color-coding task. 
• Independent Activity – Now that the students have had two experiences with the color-coding activity, assign them the third report to color-code as an individual activity.
